The Story Behind Orange Vending
Orange Vending started the way a lot of good small businesses do — out of uncertainty. When the COVID-19 pandemic furloughed Marlissa from her corporate job, she and Christopher hired a business consultant to brainstorm a side business in case the layoff became permanent. None of the consultant’s ideas felt right, so Christopher started researching on his own. When he came across the cashless vending industry, it clicked immediately.
It was a natural fit. Christopher had spent 25 years as a UPS delivery driver — more than two decades of logistics, routing, and knowing how to service a territory reliably, day after day. Marlissa brought the back-office strengths to match: bookkeeping, new-account acquisition, and marketing. Vending needed exactly that combination — dependable routes plus organized operations — so in 2021 the two of them launched Orange Vending together.
The business took off faster than they expected. Two years in, it had grown enough that Christopher was able to retire from UPS and commit to Orange Vending full-time. Today it’s still run by the two of them — Christopher manages the machines, routes, and service while Marlissa handles new accounts, bookkeeping, and marketing — which is exactly why customers reach a real owner when they call, not a national call center.
Orange Vending by the Numbers
Orange Vending currently services 30 machines across 25 locations and accounts throughout Central Florida, and that base continues to grow. Founded in 2021, the company is based in Orlando and is steadily shifting its home base toward Sumter County, where three of its largest accounts are located — right along the Florida Turnpike and I-75 corridor between Orlando and Ocala. Its focus is the warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities that keep that corridor running.
